“Americans want Democrats to stand up to Bush," the Wall Street Journal's Washington Wire reports. "Fully 60%, including one-fourth of Republicans, say Democrats in Congress should make sure Bush and his party 'don't go too far.' Just 34% want Democrats to 'work in a bipartisan way' to help pass the president's priorities."
It’s no surprise to Democrats—probably shocking to Republicans. But Democrats already know this. Though, for some reason, we’re unable to get Democratic politicians to understand this.
Instead of getting our elected officials to stand up to Bush, what we’ve gotten are the Joe Liebermans.
And the Joe Bidens. And Democrats voting for the Patriot Act. And voting for the Iraqi War Resolution. Shit, we had our Democratic majority leader voting with Bush seventy five percent of the time.
Like idiots. Like morons they keep thinking they can work with Bush—and I’m not opposed to that. That’s how our government used to work. Compromise. Give and take. You know, a two party democracy.
But, apparently, our stupid Democratic leadership slept through the nineties. Apparently, they didn’t notice the Republicans have decided that bipartisanship is like ”date rape”.
They ain’t interested in compromise or cooperation. They’re in it to win. Winner take all.
And you’d think, by now, for God’s sake, Democrats would get that. After getting sandbagged in the 2002 midterm elections. After Daschle, for being such a team player, got his big reward of having Rove go all out to kick him the fuck out of the Senate, you'd think they'd understand.
But they don’t.
BAGHDAD , Iraq - As 55 people died in Iraq (news - web sites) on Saturday, the holiest day on the Shiite Muslim religious calendar, Sen. Hillary Clinton (news - web sites) said that much of Iraq was "functioning quite well" and that the rash of suicide attacks was a sign that the insurgency was failing.
So there’s Hillary, who these people hate more than her husband, saying: “Hey, we’re making great progress! It looks like these Bush people are really getting their act together!”
Just how well is Iraq functioning?
Clinton said the last time she visited Iraq in late 2003, she traveled to the Green Zone by road from the international airport.
Today, security is so bad that none of the senators dared drive through Baghdad's streets, even in armored cars. Aside from the Green Zone, their only glimpse of the capital came from the relative safety of U.S. military helicopters that ferried them from the airport…
Hillary doesn’t know! She’s in Iraq, but she can’t even see it! It’s too dangerous.
Collins, who last visited Iraq in mid-2003, said the increased violence was "disappointing."
A year and-a-half ago, "we were able to move more freely in Baghdad," she said. "And one impression I have is how much more fortified Baghdad is than it was during that summer…"
Yes, that sounds like the country is functioning quite well. Aside from those well coordinated attacks on the infrastructure. Aside from the Kurds increasingly demanding sovereignty. Aside from American soldiers still being killed at a rate of more than one a day.
Oh, yeah, there’s also the unprecedented hemorrhaging of American tax dollars. With no end in sight.
Aside from that, it’s peachy.
But there’s Hillary, the most hated Democratic Senator there is, toeing the fucking Bush line—great progress. Desperate insurgents.
Just what does she think her great reward is going to be? That the neocons will think she’s a Democrat they can work with? That conservatives will stop photoshopping her face onto bodies of dominatrixes? That Rush Limbaugh will stop calling her Hitlery? That this will somehow endear her to the voters of Oklahoma or Arizona?
Is she fucking nuts???
Hillary, you’re a Senator from New York. And neither the Club For Growth, nor GOPUSA, nor Karl Rove himself can do anything about it. You’re safe.
But nothing you say, no matter how much repugnant ass you kiss, is going to endear you to these people. They hate you. They hate everything you stand for. They even hate a bunch of things you don’t stand for, but they claim you do.
Stop sucking their gruesome kneecaps and start laying the lead pipe to them. Stop trying to work with people who are never, ever going to work with you, and start fighting for the people who fucking voted for you.
It might not help you, but it won’t hurt you. And the American people want you to, for Christ’s sake.
They truly are worthless. They nearly all voted for the indecency bill that fines broadcasters more than 10 times the old fines and neglects to define indecency.
Fucking nitwits.

Way back in the 50s there was an unpopular kid who thought that by kissing the asses of the popular kids, he could become popular, too.
He was wrong.
No matter how hard he tried to conform, he was excluded, chosen last for the team, and ignored.
And by the early 60s, he had learned that he had to be himself, and began to hang with the the kids that knew that the 'establishment' was full of crap. We had our own parties that were far cooler than their's. Talked with people that could articulate their opinions, and defend them with facts. And we had sex with a sense of fun and abandon they never imagined. We understood when we read, "The Under Secretary of the US Air Force stated in a March 1968 memo, Hue is ‘a devastated and prostrate city. Eighty per cent of the buildings have been reduced to rubble, and in the smashed ruins lay 2,000 dead civilians…Three quarters of the city’s people were rendered homeless and looting was widespread, members of the ARVN (US-backed South Vietnamese troops) being the worst offenders," that they were wrong. And who supported each other as, one way or another, we "refused to give our bodies as a weapon of the war."
We took it on the chin for our beliefs. And all the Demolosers in Congress can do is beg, "Please, Sir, may I have another?" I knew I should have gone into politics...at least I'd have a hell of a retirement program.
If the whores are doing that much better than I am, something is wrong.
And...I would like to take ricky's bandwidth to commend everyone to checking out Barak's site. Pretty inventive!

I have been preaching Dont Vote for some time now and it looks like folks just might be getting the right idea. Both parties sleep in the same bed and the war goes on and the Democrats are worthless pieces of shit fouling up Washington! So Dont Vote anymore and send a real message to all those assholes in Washington!

I wrote the above comments a long time ago and it still has meaning today in June of 2007. The worthless do-nothing Democrats got a majority and what did they do with it? Useless turds, they blew it and fell in line with the war mongers. You know, politicians really do not do a damn thing but fuck up everything and NOT VOTING makes more and more sense as we progress towards a continual war policy against the whole world. If you vote, you really are contributing to the mess we are in. Un plug that damn TV and hit the street and revolt! Or do you want to be an American Zombie the rest of your life?

That's brilliant: all the people who are passionate and well-informed should not vote! That way, our government can be chosen by the ignorant and disinterested.
That should solve all our problems in no time.
