McCain mentioned using a federal stabilization fund to back uninsured money market accounts. The Treasury Department is already using the fund to guarantee money market mutual funds, which were the only uninsured money market accounts. Treasury announced that program Sept. 19 after the failure of Lehman Bros. produced a surge of withdrawals from such funds.
Putting country first before petty politics!
Speaking to reporters at the Marriott Hotel in West Des Moines, McCain said, “Sen. Obama and his allies in Congress infused unnecessary partisanship into the process.”
But then, McCain added, “Now is not the time to fix the blame, it’s time to fix the problem. I would hope that all our leaders, all of them, can put aside short-term political goals and do what’s in the best interests of the American people.”
Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and his top aides took credit for building a winning bailout coalition – hours before the vote failed and stocks tanked.
Straight talk to set the record straight!
WASHINGTON (CNN)— Sen. John McCain retracted Sarah Palin's stance on Pakistan Sunday morning, after the Alaska governor appeared to back Sen. Barack Obama's support for unilateral strikes inside Pakistan against terrorists.
...McCain told ABC's George Stephanopoulos… “This is a free country, but I don't think most Americans think that that's a definitive policy statement made by Governor Palin."
Saturday night, while on a stop for cheesesteaks in South Philadelphia, Palin was questioned by a Temple graduate student about whether the U.S. should cross the border from Afghanistan into Pakistan.
"If that's what we have to do stop the terrorists from coming any further in, absolutely, we should," Palin said.
Whatever else people might say about the man, I think you have to admit that John McCain, clearly, is a fool.
He's a man who behaves foolishly. In public. It's embarrassing.
This ticket is so stupid.
Update: This ticket is now stupider.
Later Update: This ticket is even more stupider.
Latest Update: I'm going to bed before someone posts a video of Katie Couric asking Sarah Palin how many noses and how many toeses a human person has and Palin responds by stripping down to her bathing suit with a sash that reads, "Mrs. Stupid Dumbass Wasilla, Doncha Know" and does the "Be Aggressive! Bee Eee Aggressive!" cheer.
